Hi,
I’m Ben Gillespie, and I’ve been a Certified K-12 and College Admissions tutor since 2008. I’ve worked in a range of educational settings; from public schools to traditional private schools, as a classroom coach and senior leader, and as the Programme Director for the World Class Academy, where I ran the only international high school for aspiring kiteboarding athletes (a real career highlight!).
Unlike many tutors, this isn’t a side hustle for me. I moved to tutoring full time because I love helping students make progress on the goals they set for themselves, and because I thought I’d do a better job of it if I devoted my career to it. I’ve been preparing students for academic success for 15 years, and would love to work with you to help you achieve your goals.
I’m a passionate outdoorsperson, and when I’m not in the classroom, I’m usually climbing, paragliding, or kitesurfing, or teaching friends and family to do the same.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT
Most students encounter obstacles at some point in their academic career. Working with a tutor helps them to build confidence and resilience in the face of these challenges, and sets them up for lifelong success in learning.
I can work with your student to understand their specific needs and address any gaps in their knowledge. I provide support for Mathematics at all levels, and across American and International curriculum.
SUBJECTS
Elementary Mathematics: Focuses on numbers (including place value, fractions, and decimals), geometry (lines, angles, and shapes), and measurement (covering area, volume, graphs, charts, money, and mass).
Intermediate or Middle School Mathematics: Includes numeracy, algebra, geometry, and an introduction to statistics and probability.
Advanced or High School Mathematics: Including Prealgebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations,
Specialized or College Admissions Mathematics: Providing preparation for standardized tests such as ASAT, SAT, and AP exams, and courses such as AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics.
International Mathematics including GCSE, A Level, and the International Baccalaureate.
I also provide support for students in Chemistry, Physics, IT and Computing.
COLLEGE PREP
As a college prep mathematics tutor, I offer comprehensive services tailored to guide students through the rigorous demands of advanced math courses and standardized tests, ensuring their readiness for success in higher education. My personalized approach encompasses fundamental concepts review, advanced problem-solving techniques, and targeted exam preparation strategies. Over the years, I have successfully prepared students for admission into esteemed institutions such as Harvard University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and Princeton University, and Universities in England and in Europe. My expertise extends across a spectrum of mathematical disciplines, including calculus, statistics, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics, equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in college-level coursework. Through individualized instruction and ongoing support, I empower students to achieve their academic goals and unlock their full potential.
EXAM PREPARATION
Apart from aiding students in their academic course assessments, a considerable number of them seek my tutoring services for targeted preparation toward school or college entrance examinations. Although my teaching approach primarily emphasises comprehension and conceptual grasp, I can offer assistance with test-taking techniques, particularly when students are contending with exam stress or require special accommodations during assessments.

For my American and International students, I can support with AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, and AIME, ISEE Math, SSAT Math, ACT Math, SAT Math, SAT II Math Level I, SAT II Math Level II, SAT II Physics, the GMAT Math, and AP exams.
In England, these typically include Key Stage 3 SATs, GCSE, iGCSE, A-Level, IB (International Baccalaureate), University Entrance Exams, Professional Exams, 11+ Entrance Exams, 13+ Entrance Exams, Common Entrance Exams, and Independent School Entrance Examinations (ISEE).
